Children

At Arlington Temple, we welcome children and babies in worship! Our new, updated nursery will soon include an audio and video feed to the sanctuary so that parents of infants and very young children can retreat to the quiet of the nursery if they wish and still stay connected to the worship service.

As United Methodists, we believe that God's "prevenient grace" (the grace that comes before) is working in our lives before we even know it. We baptize babies and children (as well as adults who have never been baptized before, of course!) When children become old enough to make a commitment to follow Jesus themselves (ages 12 and older), we provide a confirmation class to teach them how to become disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world.

Children and youth also participate in church life in many ways. Children 8 and up may be acolytes. Older youth read scripture and help with the audio-visual team. Youth 14 and older may serve on our annual summer mission with Appalachia Service Project. Periodically we have service events after worship in which all ages can participate.
